Co-founded by visionary real estate developer R. Donahue Peebles and accomplished asset manager Douglas McNeely, Donahue Douglas specializes in Permanent Capital and Closed-End Fund Investment Strategies. R. Donahue “Don” Peebles, Jr.
Chairman, Co-founder, Co-CEO
R. Donahue “Don” Peebles brings more than four decades of real estate investment and development expertise to his role as Co-CEO and Chairman of Donahue Douglas Investment Group. Widely recognized as one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the United States, Mr. Peebles has built a legacy of strategic leadership, innovation, and investor alignment across dynamic real estate markets nationwide.
In addition to his leadership at Donahue Douglas, Mr. Peebles is the Founder, Chairman, and CEO of The Peebles Corporation, one of the nation’s largest privately held real estate investment and development firms. Since founding the company in Washington, DC in 1983, he has overseen the development and execution of more than 10 million square feet of real estate, with a current pipeline of over 4 million square feet and $8 billion in major urban markets including New York, Miami, San Francisco, Boston, Charlotte, Atlanta, Durham, and Washington, DC.
Mr. Peebles is known for his distinctive ability to identify high-impact investment opportunities and drive value through unique deal-sourcing capabilities and long-standing industry relationships. His investor-first mindset and strategic acumen continue to shape the firm's mission and growth.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Mr. Peebles is a respected thought leader and public voice on business, politics, and economic empowerment. He is a frequent contributor on networks including CNBC, CNN, FOX News, and FOX Business, and is the author of two bestselling books: The Peebles Principles and The Peebles Path to Real Estate Wealth.
Mr. Peebles is also deeply engaged in civic and philanthropic work. He served as Chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation and the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau, and was a member of President Barack Obama’s National Finance Committee. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the YMCA of Greater New York and is a passionate advocate for mentoring underrepresented youth and fostering pathways to entrepreneurship and wealth creation.

Douglas E. McNeely
President, Co-founder, Co-CEO
Douglas McNeely brings decades of transformative leadership experience in global financial markets to his role as Co-CEO and President of Donahue Douglas Investment Group. His career spans prestigious positions at the world's leading investment firms, where he has consistently demonstrated an exceptional ability to drive strategic growth and innovation.
Prior to co-founding Donahue Douglas Investment Group, Mr. McNeely served as a Partner at The Carlyle Group, where he played an instrumental role in advancing the firm's client strategy. As Managing Director at BlackRock, he led the Strategic Client Group and established the BlackRock Impact Opportunities Fund, pioneering a $1 billion investment initiative focused on communities of color across multiple asset classes including real estate, private equity, private credit, and infrastructure.
His distinguished career also includes leadership of the Public Funds and Insurance Group at Morgan Stanley, following his early tenure as Vice President of Equity Sales and Trading at Goldman Sachs, where he built a strong foundation in capital markets and institutional advisory services.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. McNeely maintains active engagement in civic leadership. He serves on the Board of Trustees of the New Museum in New York City, the Board of Directors of The Painted Turtle, and the Advisory Board of Project Healthy Minds, demonstrating his commitment to arts, healthcare, and mental health advocacy.
A graduate of Duke University, Mr. McNeely's leadership qualities emerged early as Captain of the basketball team, where he holds the distinction of being legendary Coach Mike Krzyzewski's first recruit. This foundation in teamwork and strategic thinking continues to inform his approach to investment management and organizational leadership.
